Story

Naomh Padraig GAA Leicester's Gaelic football club are hosting the second memorial day in memory of club legend Darron Joseph. A mixture of football for young and the more mature, with music from local musicians and bouncy castle fun too. So fun for all the family. Darron had a passion for the game and was involved in GAA as a player/coach for St Colmcilles, Naomh Padraig and Warwickshire for over 30 years.

a few words of thanks and reflection....

25th September 2021
Firstly need to say thank you to you all for supporting the day and us, Darron's family. I am very proud of the club and all that is happening with the Youth and young players development, it is just amazing to see. I absolutely loved seeing the more mature vets play, many of whom played with Darron. This day and the games we have seen are testimony to the club, the player and man we are here to remember. Just need to pause to take a moment to also remember my niece Leona who those will remember sang at this day in 2019 and was so suddenly taken from us in March this year following a road traffic accident. So can we just raise a class to Leona and Darron and remember them quietly for a moment. I love being part of this clubs family not just the football but the emerald centre and the Irish communities hospitality, warmth and generosity is something that continues to fill my heart. The last year and a half has been tough on everyone but has taught us all what is important which is friendships and time with those we love. So enjoy some tunes and a drink and time with each other and thank you for being part of this Memorial Day.
